How historical statistics helps to vote!

When AI models can change the playground

Sweden next Election Day - 13 September 2026

Early voting in Sweden Election has began from yesterday, August 26, 2026, and it is expected that some people who believe it is important to participate in the elections and influence the future of the country will vote during the election period until election day on September 13.

But are you satisfied with the options you can choose from? It should be noted that not voting is still an option!

Today, for most people, it’s complicated to find a proper reason to follow and support a political party or group of politicians due to the ambiguity of the gap lied between them. This gap has various aspects, including the awareness of what people actually face when they vote. Indeed, what basis can political programs and promises can be measured and evaluated?

A difficult but possible way is to look back. That is, if the election is between the largest campaigns, it would be a good idea to examine their performance when they acted in government. This is where [historical statistics], commonly called economic, social and cultural indicators, become somewhat important.

In the upcoming elections, there is a serious competition between the current government and the opposition parties that previously sat in the previous government. Perhaps some concrete indicators can help people compare the results of the two political blocks, and today, because of AI models and agents, it is a little easier to review and compare data than one or two decades ago. However, there is still a general concern about the lack of information diversity and the bias of AI models in analyzing data and interpreting facts based on them.

However, since life in the age of AI is indeed complicated and difficult for humans without considering its possibilities, it is inevitable that we should make the best use of the available possibilities.

Provided that we, as citizens, do not use AI models extensively or in an advanced way, we can still get valuable information with the help of simple prompts. For example, there is good data from Eurostat and other sources on the development indicators in Sweden over the last two decades such as the Gini coefficient, unemployment rate, life expectancy, GDP, happiness index and several others.

The chart based on approximate general figures for HCI, Gini coefficient, Happiness Index, Life Expectancy, GDP Growth, Unemployment from 2014 to 2026

It might not be a bad idea to convert them into trend charts comparing the previous situation, for example from 2014 to 2022, with the situation after the government change in 2022, to get a more complete insight before going to the vote. A measure that helps people test election promises beyond decorated political programs and statements against something a little more realistic.

Democracy is a human high cost achievement which resulted via great efforts by nations throughout history and we must take care of it in daily basis so that it does not become useless.
